Speaking event and art exhibition
I was selected to speak at the NFT.NYC 2025 event after submitting a proposal to the organizers. I chose to speak about loyalty programs in web3 and best practices associated with NFT utility and marketing tactics.

Speaker Notes: Have you ever sold an NFT and it was a really difficult decision? Of course you have, let's explore what happens to you when you take that fateful step of selling off one of your prized possessions and the emotions that one encounters in the wake of that decision.
Speaker Notes: 2 minutes about my bg
Played in bands in high school, punk/hardcore scene
Went to school for fine arts and psychology, wound up working in advertising as UX Designer
Began producing music at home when I joined p2p communities (soulseek) performed locally and internationally, stream worldwide
Most passionate about multimedia work (how i got into development, 3d art, etc…)
Founded soulseek records (p2p music community) ran projects using cc0 art
Co-founded spacestation crypto discord, now a DAO
Founded NIPD gaming community, created derivative project for broadside (also cc0)
Collector of comics (what brought me into web 2.5 NFTs) leading to Broadside and nft nyc
Collector of records, toys, etc… which helps me understand hype and market trends
Selective about what I promote, done with a purpose to help project evolve
I pick things apart, exploit, have fun with in good sport
Why this is relevant: Marketing bg exposed me to how campaigns worked, brand strategy and all that. Being an artist with the p2p community which is similar to nft space and made me feel at home because of the similarities in culture. How i consume things helped me learn what type of founder I wanted to be.
Speaker Notes: When we mint we are excited, because we are unlocking something or because of the potential for portfolio growth. These two groups who are not mutually exclusive often butt heads because of the motives involved.
A holder can benefit from false hype but long term that hurts their investment and or project reputation
Market volatility is good for traders and bad for holders. Projects build and often flippers cause market activity that is detrimental to the product.
People often dont like to admit that they sell nfts but these are some things that cause one to want to move on if not the project itself or the other factors like financial needs etc…
Speaker Notes: General marketing tactics that work for major brands should work for NFT projects as well.
When a project fails: Sometimes something happens out of everyone’s control, a mistake, a missept, a miscalculation…. These are actually opportunities to generate stronger brand trust with how the situation is managed.
Speaker Notes: Now when you sell your nft you can be happy about the investment and the result, u can be less than happy with the loss of money but also your loss of the connections holding comes with.
Often leading up to a sale is where the validity of their communications become motivated. Glenn told me not to look at my sale and just be happy with the profit u took. This is the way
I dont want to regret my sale, i dont want to miss out but it shows perhaps the longing for connection. FUD happens sometimes for legitimate reasons but it also happens because of regret. You will find some who go way out of their way to pick apart a projects decisions to validate their decision to sell. It helps them to move on. No one wants to leave a thriving project or even a mostly dead one when you invested your time and or effort into it. But do you have to leave?
Speaker Notes: Being able to offer exclusive things to your holders is important. For some it is crucial. Does making a walled off garden foster wider adoption tho?
Founder can focus on building innovation constantly for their holders but the audience has already segmented themselves into projects and you wont find a large amount of people joining your project unless u are hitting a very specific unmet need. If you build something available to everyone and have your most loyal customers get the full experiences this is where you can onboard more people. To continue to make money from an NFT project you can generate volatility to get those royalties but you would be better off building on top of your brand.
If you use cc0 art you can appeal to a wider audience. Make things available to all and you will find them coming to you to look for more. Maybe they buy and maybe they dont but they can still be part of your community without being a holder.
You could compete with others, you can shame people for not being your biggest supporter or you could accept your community for who they are and what their interests are and use that to branch into other projects or brands or help to develop a lasting relationship with your community where you aim to convert them over time as your brand evolves.
Speaker Notes: Main thing I want people to take away from this is when you see FUD on your timeline, just put yourself into their shoes and understand how hard it is for them to leave and how that may influence them and skew their perception. Now there are things we can do to soften that blow but the fud will always happen. Sometimes it may spark some needed changes but really it isn’t fud but constructive criticisms. The brand’s response to fud can turn trolling into an opportunity for growth. You cant make everyone happy but your effort shows volumes to everyone watching. Lets not demonize fudders until they are exposed for their motives. If their motive is good they can be a boon to your project. If they have a destructive motivation and you don’t get dragged into a debate then they lose their power and fade away.
